‘Rang-e-Perahan’ by IVY Couture at PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week 2017
IVY Couture by Shazia & Sehr made its PLBW debut with their bridal collection ‘Rang-e-Perahan’ at the seventh edition of PFDC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week. The collection was about the amalgamation of the Ottoman and Mughal empires that have had rich histories with robust and intricate designs and quite similar aesthetics likewise in culture, clothing, architecture and religious portrayals. It was their showstoppers who stole the show though, sisters Urwa Hocane and Mawra Hocane with some of the most memorable images of the night.
This homogeneity and richness of both empires were reflected in ‘Rang-e-Perahan’ through different approaches such as the compositions, embellishments, embroideries, digital printing, block printing and the color stories. The collection incorporated an eclectic mix of rich and contemporary fabrics such as tissue, organza, net, jamawar (kamkhwab) and Indian zari. It boasts a combination of traditional and modern techniques such as adda work, laser cut and digital print throughout the collection. The color palette ranges from bright to pastel hues to cater to the traditional and contemporary needs. The collection comprised of 20 designs in a variety of traditional and contemporary silhouettes such as lenhga choli, straight shirt with gharara, A-line shirt with sharara, peplum, gowns and also featured four menswear designs.
