It’s always fun to work with a brand you love so when Nazli Akbar asked me to try out some of her latest formal collection, I jumped at the chance. Elegant, feminine and beautifully detailed, Nazli Akbar’s trademark style is much imitated but impossible to truly replicate. Her new collection of formals is typically luxe; pretty colours in pure fabrics with gorgeous detailing and delicate embroidery. Although there were deeper hues to choose from, I chose four looks in her signature pretty pastels.
Blush Pink Lace outfit by Nazli Akbar
This pretty dusty blush pink is very flattering on a range of skin tones. Nazli tends to blur the detail in photographs to foil copycats but the outfit features a mix of delicate lace and embroidery, with pretty finishing touches. The detailing on the dupatta and the pants complements the kurta perfectly.
Soft Blue semi-formal with 3D embroidery by Nazli Akbar
This pale blue number would be perfect for a formal lunch, and you could even pull it off at a daytime wedding with the right jewellery. The little floral touches on the pants and the panelling on the dupatta add to the oomph factor of this beautiful outfit.
Pale Peach Nazli Akbar formal
This pale peach number is a similar colour to the first outfit but the base is more peach than pink. Though you can’t see the details, this is a much more elaborate outfit
White Cape from Nazli Akbar 2017-18 collection
This is perhaps my favourite outfit – a fusion cut with a slight off-shoulder that’s alluring without being too revealing. As you can see, it’s a very flattering silhouette and the embroidery elevates it to the sort of outfit you can wear to a daytime formal event.
