With short hemlines, the focus is still on lowers this season. With the dhoti shalwar practically defunct and the gharara pant ubiquitous, designers and the fashion savvy are now opting for a hot new Pakistani Fashion trend – tie up capris.
We’re seeing these cool new pants from boutique-level, fashion-forward designers like Nazli Akbar, who often drive trends, and from senior designers such as Deepak Perwani and Sana Safinaz to consistently define trends.
Farah Talib Aziz was one of the first to adopt the trend – her daughter Maliha Aziz is pictured here at their store opening in cool velvet tie-up capris with a funky gather.
Deepak Perwani channeled the trend at FPW, with Mehreen Syed opening his fashion week collection in the trendy new lowers. A key point to note is that this is not a subtle detail – the tie-up bow should be bold and prominent.
Sana Safinaz put their own twist on it with a looser version on one of their lawn outfits. This looser version is more forgiving but I prefer the fitted capri myself.
Designers Ayesha Somaya have paired tie-up capris with both formal wear and more casual outfits. They are also offering this new pant-style on their e-store.
