Blush by Hina Farid is one of those quietly brilliant salons that have a loyal following, offering all sorts of services from mani-pedis to luxe hair treatments. It’s particularly known for hair-dos and makeup – I’ve known brides who’ve preferred the makeup at Blush over their experience at some of the best known names in the business. With the opening of a state-of-the art new flagship studio and a fab new collaboration with Kerastase, Blush is taking their salon experience to the next level.
The salon now offers a wide range of intensive hair treatments by Kerastase, with purpose-trained staff to help you pick the right treatment for you hair. We’re big fans of Kerastase here at Karachista so it’s great to see another salon offering the treatment here in Karachi. Blush also offers the Inoa range by L’Oréal Professionnel. This oil-based, ammonia-free alternative to traditional hair dyes allows you to embrace new trends without the fear of severe hair damage. The premium products are complemented by Blush’s friendly yet professional attitude staff. I tried out a blow-dry and the girls managing hair seemed well experienced, knowing which form of styling would be best for my hair type in order to achieve the look I wanted.
The event featured a smattering of Karachi’s glitterati with model and fellow salon owner Nadia Hussain dropping by to show support. The immaculate, posh interior buzzed with models, bloggers, reporters, photographers and brand managers knocking back pina coladas, sushi and lemonade. Blush showcased some summer makeup looks with a mini fashion show, showcasing summery bridal designs by Nadia Farooqui. Three of the outfits combined traditional sequins and metallic thread handiwork with the very trendy shoulder cut style. The jewellery by Ali Javeri was traditional and complimented the wedding outfits worn by the models. Even though the event was something of a crush, the salon managed to exude a chic, serene ambience.
The backstage-style make up area maintains the elegant theme of the rest of the salon. The differing make-up styles on each of the models were on point, from a fresh dewy summery look to an almost gothic lip for fashion-forward brides. All the looks featured a well-balanced contour and perfectly matched coverage so there weren’t any of those orange or grey undertones that come from the wrong shade of product. The contour was blended well, not leaving awkward lines or that overly-caked kind of look. The team had a number of different make up brands that they were using, in order to reach the perfect combination for each model. They worked swiftly and professionally despite being under pressure and the atmosphere was electric.
The Mani-pedi section has a slightly more modern futuristic vibe, with a row of plush big sofas to accommodate about twelve. The sleek set up and spectrum of Essie colours to choose from, makes it an ideal location for a spa day with the girls. Apart from that, the nail-team offers a lot different designs and patterns to choose from, so there’s no excuse for boring nails.
The new Blush Studio looks to be a great addition to Karachi’s salon scene. It’s located at Bukhari Commercial and is definitely worth checking out.
